The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is a turning point in China's historic transformation, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new stage of development, and various undertakings have stood at a new historical starting point. Since then, China has made major achievements in economic construction, achieved significant breakthroughs in comprehensively deepening reforms, made great progress in ideological and cultural construction, carried out all-round diplomatic layout, and achieved remarkable results in exercising full and strict governance over the Party. All these changes have provided new ideas and themes for China studies abroad. At the same time, research on traditional sinology has not stagnated, and there has been an endless stream of contemporary Chinese studies and sinological research achievements. In order to comprehensively integrate and systematically present foreign research achievements on China's politics, economy, society, diplomacy, security, history and culture since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese Studies Center of National Library of China established a project in December 2016 at the Collaborative Innovation Center for Research on International Influence of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in Beijing Universities and undertook the construction of the Thematic Database of Overseas China Studies since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
The database includes monographs, papers and reports published since 2013, as well as opinions and commentaries in newspapers, periodicals and the Internet. There are six thematic categories in the database, including Party, Government and Rule of Law, Society and Economy, Diplomacy and Security, Science and Technology, History and Culture, and Comprehensive Research, and each of which is sorted chronologically, with the latest published at the top. The basic information includes title, author, year of publication, etc. Some monographs, papers and reports are provided with brief description and table of contents, and web-collected articles are indicated with source and links to the original text, and the full text is provided without copyright implications. The database is available in both simple and advanced searches.
